Air freight services from Asia are already showing signs of higher than usual demand in the build up to the traditional air freight peak season, and we could be in for one of the highest peaks ever.

Several service routes from Asia are already low in space availability, and concerns are rising that capacity may not be able to cover all of this year’s peak season demand.

The Red Sea crisis has raised the need for air freight services, where longer sailings around the Cape Of Good Hope have led to ocean freight orders being switched to air.

The retail and ecommerce sectors are extremely busy at this time of year as they approach the busy sales periods of Black Friday and Christmas, while new electronic product launches, such as phones and tablets, increase the pressure on capacity.

Asia is the prime example of a fluctuating supply and demand market, with high rates almost always accompanying high demand, and there have been ongoing price increases on several routes over recent weeks.

Some industry experts predict that this year’s air freight peak season will be one of the highest ever from Asia.

The Regal Crown team are keeping a close eye on upcoming developments. In the meantime, we highly recommend that customers review any urgent ocean or air freight shipments in the pipeline, with a view to moving them as early as possible. Of course, this is sometimes easier said than done.
